30 March 2023 - East London ICC
Like other provinces, the Eastern Cape is faced with challenges of chronic unemployment, poverty and equality. The Eastern Cape Province has several agencies at provincial and municipal levels with clear mandates to advance the province’s economic development albeit with different mandates.
Considering the limited resources versus the enormity of the task of pushing back the frontiers of poverty and unemployment, The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) under the leadership of the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) sees a need for the key agencies to periodically meet, share scripts and push for greater alignment of programme execution to give a much greater impact on the economy.
To explore the potential of a much more improved inter-agency collaboration, the ECDC will host an engagement session of Board Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers of the lead agencies charged with advancing Eastern Cape’s socio-economic development.
The ECDC would therefore like to invite members of the media to join a media briefing where the MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism Mr. Mlungisi Mvoko, together with the Chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers will brief the media on:
1. The most optimum inter-agency collaboration model
2. High impact priority programmes planned for the next 12 to 54 months.
