In a sector often overlooked by aspiring entrepreneurs, Nkosi Yamntu Holdings (Pty) Ltd is showing just how far a clear vision, backed by the right support, can go. What started as a small idea back in 2019 has now grown into a registered and steadily expanding enterprise that’s transforming public spaces and uplifting local lives.
Based in Port Alfred, this youth-owned business has carved out a niche in grass-cutting and landscaping services, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment while unlocking real economic value in the process.
With a boost from the ECDC, Nkosi Yamntu Holdings received landscaping equipment valued at over R70 000, including high-performance tools like a Husqvarna chainsaw, brush cutter, clearing saw, lawn mower, and more.
Since receiving this support, the business has been thriving. It has improved the efficiency and quality of its services, expanded its capacity, and created temporary work opportunities for local youth. The team has also facilitated trainings in equipment handling and basic landscaping, a significant step toward building skills, not just income.
The results of the efforts put into the business have translated into better service delivery, cleaner neighbourhoods, and a steady rise in revenue. Most importantly, the success of the business proves that young people in the Eastern Cape don’t lack ambition, they often just need the right support and resources to take their ideas further.
Nkosi Yamntu Holdings is a reminder that not all business ideas have to be big to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s in the small, consistent actions like keeping a park clean or teaching someone a new skill, that the biggest difference is made.
This Youth Month, we celebrate businesses like this one. Not just for the services they offer, but for the statement they make - that the future is not only coming, it can be built with one solid idea coupled with focus and knocking at the right doors.
