Biosecurity Seminar with PUM Netherlands

The ECDC, in collaboration with PUM Netherlands Senior Experts, will host a biosecurity seminar to address the critical challenges currently facing the livestock industry, particularly considering the ongoing outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in the country.

The seminar will convene key stakeholders across the agricultural value chain—including farmers, veterinarians, industry bodies, policymakers, and trade experts—to engage on effective prevention, control, and response strategies.

Key focus areas will include:

• Strengthening farm-level biosecurity systems

• Enhancing surveillance and early detection mechanisms

• Managing the trade implications of FMD outbreaks

• Protecting and restoring export market access

• Promoting Public-private sector collaboration

Given the economic significance of the livestock sector and the risks posed by FMD, this seminar aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, build capacity, and support coordinated action to safeguard the industry.
