A VIABLE FILM AND TELEVISION INDUSTRY

Through the ECDC-managed Eastern Cape Film Investment Fund, government is supporting the establishment of commercially-viable film and television productions shot in the province. The fund is designed to support and grow the film and television industry in the Eastern Cape by providing a financial incentive to productions that contribute to investment attraction, job creation, SMME participation, skills development and tourism.
One of these productions is the 10 episodes of Smoke and Mirrors, partially filmed in the Alfred Nzo District and aired in December 2023. The project attracted R10 million in investment, created 159 jobs, and engaged 40 small businesses
during production.
