Kwanontsomi Enterprise, a rising multimedia production company based in King William’s Town, continues to strengthen its influence in the Eastern Cape’s storytelling landscape through its compelling documentaries, feature films, commercials, and ceremonial productions. On 20 November 2025, Executive Mayor of Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality, Ms Princess Faku, through the Isiqalo Youth Fund, extended support to the company, comprising a panel van and sound equipment valued at R1.4 million, which was formally handed over to its director, Mr Ntsikelelo Mavata.
Established in 2015 and grounded in the proverb ‘Inyathi ibuzwa kwabaphambili’, Kwanontsomi Enterprise has built a strong reputation for cultural authenticity and technical craftsmanship. The company’s milestones include the debut feature film Soulties (2016), the second feature film IbilidiI (2020), and the acclaimed documentary Ilifa Lomboko (2021). The enterprise has also earned national recognition through its co-productions with Mzansi Magic, iCherrie Yam (2022) and Thuto (2023), and is currently developing Ubomu Ngumzamo, a project under consideration for licensing.
Supported by a capable team of filmmakers, editors, photographers, marketers, and operational specialists, Kwanontsomi Enterprise has demonstrated its ability to produce high-quality content that preserves culture, honours local narratives, and contributes to the creative identity of the Eastern Cape. The newly allocated assets will significantly boost the enterprise’s operational capacity, enabling greater mobility, improved sound quality, and enhanced delivery of film and documentary productions across the province.
This handover is significant to the ECDC, as it is aligned to the Corporation’s commitment of strengthening the creative economy, supporting high-potential youth enterprises, and stimulating job creation within strategic growth sectors. By being a part of this event, the ECDC reinforces its role as a key driver of provincial development and a partner in empowering youth-owned businesses that contribute to the Eastern Cape’s social and economic transformation.
