Infix Creations is a powerful example of how creativity and resilience in the Eastern Cape can grow into a brand with both local roots and global reach. Founded in 2011 by entrepreneur Fikiswa Mlomo, this Black female owned business is based in Mdantsane and has earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship within the Amathole District.
Specialising in clothing and handcrafted leather accessories, Infix Creations produces everything from travel bags, handbags, and belts to bespoke garments. Its range spans custom designed and ready to wear clothing, from traditional attire and matric dance gowns to formal and leisure wear, each piece infused with the distinctive identity and style of the Eastern Cape.
The ECDC has been instrumental in unlocking Infix Creations’ growth potential. Following a business diagnostic, the Corporation recommended that Fikiswa attend the Exporter Development Programme at the Nelson Mandela Bay Chamber of Business in Gqeberha.
The training equipped her with vital knowledge and tools to begin exploring export markets.
Beyond training, the ECDC opened doors to local and international trade platforms. Infix Creations has since showcased its work at Engage Trade Africa in Cape Town, Africa Fashion Week in London, and the Intra Africa Trade Fair in Egypt, exposure that positioned the brand on global stages. To build long term sustainability, Fikiswa also completed facilitation, assessment, and moderation courses with ECDC’s support, enabling Infix Creations to become an accredited training provider.
These interventions boosted turnover and placed the business firmly on a growth trajectory. What began in Mdantsane as a small clothing and accessories manufacturer is now a brand reshaping the narrative of township innovation, cultural pride, and global ambition.
Infix Creations stands as proof that when creativity is nurtured by support structures like the ECDC, Made in the Eastern Cape is not just a campaign, it is a global standard of excellence.
