ECDC launches Risk Capital Fund and Small Town Rural and Township Entrepreneurship Programme

27 September 2022

ECDC has established a Risk Capital Fund (RCF) programme with the objective of promoting the development of innovative businesses ideas/concepts that support the growth of the Eastern Cape economy, contribute towards the creation of sustainable jobs as well as contribute towards the competitiveness of the province. Along with this fund, the Corporation is also launching a Small Town, Rural and Township Entrepreneurship Programme (STRTEP).

The STRTEP aims to provide integrated support to both formal and informal MSMEs operating in Rural Areas, Townships and Small Towns in the Eastern Cape Province. The premise for the support is the acknowledgment of the marginalised, disjointed, and dualistic nature of the economies in the Eastern Cape province.

Both the Risk Capital Fund and Small Town, Rural and Township Entrepreneurship Programme will be announced alongside the 2021/22 Annual Results for the ECDC in a Stakeholder Engagement Session to take place in Mthatha.
