The Eastern Cape presence at international trade fairs is starting to pay dividends with the arrival of a group of Americans to the province over Easter.
This follows on the back of major operators in Germany, Britain and the United States who are expected to offer the province as part of a South African experience. Trips currently being offered include the “10 years of democracy” tours.
The Eastern Cape Tourism Board says that the province played a significant role in the South Africa’s democracy and that the region is rich with history.
Amongst the highlights which are being profiled in the province include visits to the University of Fort Hare to view the ANC archives and the African art. Future visits will also include a trip to the Transkei, visiting Qunu, cultural villages, the Nelson Mandela Museum and exploring the beauty of the Wild Coast.
The Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve is also being targeted by German, Dutch and British tourist operators for the 2004/5 season.
