Cintsa cultural village a step closer to reality
Posted on: Wednesday, 17 March 2004. Article source: Daily Dispatch
It has taken less than two years from a meeting with a cabinet minister for a local arts and culture group to see their dream turning into reality.
The cultural village, which will contribute to local economic development and tourism, was also identified by the Integrated Development Plan of the Great Kei Municipality as a catalyst for local economic development. The municipality incorporates Komga, Cintsa, Haga-Haga and Kei Mouth.
After the meeting with Ben Ngubane, the former Arts, Culture and Technology minister, the municipality helped the group draft a business plan which was then submitted to the relevant local and provincial departments. Approval was received in December 2003 and funding of R500 000 was received earlier this year.
Construction on the cultural village is expected to start at the end of March.
