EAST LONDON-BASED Lear Corporation is Volkswagen South Africa’s export supplier of the year. Speaking at the 17th annual supplier of the year awards, VW purchasing head Udo Janke said there would be further business opportunities for suppliers which stayed up to date with the latest technology. Volkswagen South Africa had doubled the value of its component exports over the past three years, and was striving for another increase next year. Local component manufacturers were invited to be a part of this business opportunity provided they were cost effective and there was a strong zero defect culture in the supply chain.
