Science and technology award for Eastern Cape company

BREATHETEX CORPORATION, a high-tech textile laminating company, has been announced as the runner-up in the SMME category of the National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) Awards. BreatheTex, based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is a manufacturer of waterproof, breathable fabric for the military, protective workwear, medical and sports & leisurewear markets. The laminated fabrics are completely waterproof and windproof, resistant to wear and abrasion, and show a high degree of breathability. The newly established business has achieved ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 accreditation, and is currently successfully exporting high tech laminated fabrics to Europe and the Middle East. In addition to its NSTF award BreatheTex was recently presented with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research’s Acknowledgement Award. The award was presented to BreatheTex due to its, "Outstanding Achievement as an M&MTek (the Port Elizabeth division of the CSIR) partner and spin-off company".
