VWSA to expand its range with Spanish import
Posted on: Tuesday, 28 February 2006. Article source: Business Report
The German automotive manufacturer is to build a SEAT dealership network in key areas.
Volkswagen South Africa (VWSA) will begin importing the Spanish brand Seat from the middle of this year.
Mike Glendinning, VWSA's director of sales and marketing, said about 450 000 Seats were sold annually in Europe. The range included hatches, sedans and multipurpose vehicle (MPV) alternatives.
VWSA will set up a dedicated and totally separate Seat retail dealer network in key metropolitan areas. Planned volumes in the first year of importation are conservatively estimated at between 3 000 and 3 500 vehicles.
Glendinning said the Ibiza, Leon and mini MPV Altea Seats would not displace VW or Audi models already on the local market.
