Construction of SA’s largest contractual park starts in earnest
Posted on: Monday, 23 January 2006. Article source: Eastern Cape Business News
Construction of the roads infrastructure including roads and water services at Kuzuko Reserve in the province’s Addo Elephant National Park on its northern boundary, is underway. It’s a major milestone for the reserve which is the country’s largest 100 year contractual park and is expected to open in October 2006.
Other exciting developments include the reintroduction of animals long since extinct from the area such as elephants. More passive capture has been used to round up buffalo from the south of Addo and they have been added to depleted stocks at Kuzuko. Leopard is now venturing out of the Zuurberg Mountains and spoor is being spotted throughout the area on the plains.
