A JOINT venture has been established between Danish sports apparel manufacturer TimeOut and Port Elizabeth yarn knitwear manufacturer Natural Yarn Knitwear to produce branded sports clothing in the Eastern Cape. The project is part of the Danish-South Africa business-to-business programme which assists small businesses in the two countries to set up joint ventures. Initial investment in a new factory and facilities in Port Elizabeth is R6-million, according to Wayne Oosthuizen, an industrial advisor for the Port Elizabeth Regional Manufacturing Advisory Centre (Permac). Brands to be produced at the factory include Hummel, Ambro, Adidas and Puma. Total capacity of the factory will be around 28 000 units of sports clothing a week for both local and export markets.
