PE cars show dominance in 2005 Car of the Year

Three cars from Port Elizabeth and Uitenhage have been named among the eight finalists in the 2005 South African Car of the Year competition.
The eight have been selected out of more than 100 new models launched in the past 12 months.
The SA Guild of Motoring Journalists jury panel selected the eight finalists out of the short-list of 12 vehicles.
These were announced at a function at the Auto Africa exhibition, attended by top motor industry representatives.
The finalists are:
Audi A6 3-litre TDI Quattro Tiptronic.
BMW 120i manual.
Ford Fiesta 1.4i five-door.
Mazda 3 1.6 dynamic.
Opel Astra 1.8i sport.
Peugeot 407 2.2 ST Sport.
VW Golf 5 2l TDI Sportline, which is the only locally manufactured car.
Volvo s40 2.4i.
The next step in the process is a rigorous testing routine over two days in January to determine which car will be the 2005 SA Car of the Year.
