Construction underway at Chintsa River Golfing Estate
Posted on: Monday, 19 February 2007. Article source: Eastern Cape Business News
Construction on the Chintsa River Golfing Estate on the Chintsa River is now well underway.
“This major development is expected to change the economic face of the Buffalo City and East Coast area and is the first of its kind”, says Hanlie Bassingthwaighte, area principal fro Pam Golding Properties and one of the marketers of the project.
The development includes 600 houses, a 160-room resort hotel, an 18-hole golf course and golfing academy, an equestrian centre, a country style retail area and numerous sporting facilities.
“All the legal requirements are in place and the vision for this extraordinary development is now becoming a reality,” says Bassingthwaighte.
“Construction of the infrastructure – including roads, bulk electricity and drainage, is now underway.
Also forming part of phase one is construction of the houses – with a choice of six striking architectural designs from world-renowned architect Bill Stroud.
Bassingthwaighte says this lucrative investment opportunity is within reach of buyers, but there are less than 50 sites still available.
Simultaneously, site clearing has commenced on the 18-hole champion ship golf course, with construction anticipated to begin in April 2007 and completion towards the end of 2008.
“This R2-billion project is on its way to becoming one of the most sought-after golfing estates in South Africa and as leading marketers of prime golf estate developments, Pam Golding Properties is delighted to be associated as exclusive marketers,” says Dr Andrew Golding, CE of the Pam Golding Property Group.
In addition to the major lifestyle appeal of a prime location, quality homes and 18-hole golf course designed by the world-famous Peter McEvoy, the Chintsa River Golfing Estate is providing employment for approximately 2 000 people during construction.
“Providing home buyers with an ideal opportunity for a prime lifestyle investment, it is not surprising that the market response has been so positive from the outset,” says Golding.
“There is no project of this caliber or size in the Eastern Cape, and the benefit to be derived for our local community will be significant and can only be compared to that of the Daimler Chrysler investment in the area,” says Bassingthwaighte.
“To be involved in a world-class project with international backing is an accolade for PGP’s East London office and we are counting on the East London public to make this development their own in terms of support and recommendation”.
Substantial discounts are offered during the period leading up to a national and international marketing campaign for the development, which starts next month.
