PORT ELIZABETH-based Delta Motor Corporation has put together a R1,3-billion catalytic converter export contract involving companies in Port Elizabeth, Gauteng and Cape Town. The contract is for the supply of 1,2-million catalytic converters to Europe for Opel Assembly plants in Germany and Spain. Delta – in which General Motors has a 49 per cent share – assembles Opel and Isuzu vehicles in Port Elizabeth. Cellular substrate for the converters will be sourced from Cape Town-based NGK, and will be coated in Port Elizabeth by OMG. Final assembly of the units will be done by Bosal in Gauteng.
