The North West will be the venue for the Amarok' debut.
The new Volkswagen Amarok - the German vehicle manufacturer's long-awaited entry into the South African large bakkie market - will make its debut at the Nampo festival in Bothaville, North West, on May 18.
The four-day event is the largest agricultural show in the southern hemisphere, with nearly 60,000 visitors walking through the gates each year.
"The Nampo show offers us an ideal opportunity to introduce the Amarok to the South African public. Visitors to the Nampo show are mainly farmers, who are amongst our key target customers for the Amarok," says Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles marketing manager Graeme Birch.
The Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles stand will also display one of the Amaroks that was used as an escort vehicle during the Dakar Rally, held earlier this year.
The Volkswagen Amarok double cab will be launched locally in the third quarter of 2010, with the single cab to take a bow in the first quarter of 2011.
