Province heads vehicle sales
Posted on: Friday, 13 December 2002. Article source: Eastern Cape Business News
THE EASTERN CAPE is leading at both ends of the new vehicle market. Volkswagen regained its number position as the leader of the passenger car market, with a market share of 25.6 per cent for its Audi and Volkswagen brands in November. East London-based DaimlerChrysler continued to dominate the heavy commercial end of the market. The three Eastern Cape assemblers sold 9 049 new cars in November – giving the province a market share of 46 per cent. Which means that nearly one out of every new cars sold in South Africa were sourced through the Eastern Cape. The province also supplied one out every four light and medium commercials, and one in three heavy commercials in November.
