De Wet welcomes new airline services to the region

The public, together with the region’s business sector, needs to support the new airline initiatives says Economic Affairs, Tourism and Environment MEC Andre de Wet.
He said he welcomed the imminent entry into the region of three low-cost, no-frills airlines.
1Time announced last week it would start operating a daily service between Johannesburg and East London later this month. It is due to start operations on 26 July.
Following close on the heels of 1Time's announcement, kulula.com confirmed that it is to hold exploratory talks with the region's business sector.
Presidential Air's first flights from Durban to Umtata landed earlier this month and plans are afoot to extend this service to a number of airstrips in the interior of Transkei and along the Wild Coast. The service may be extended to include East London and Port Alfred.
